THE RANCH
Woodville Ranch is a 10 acre working ranch with Arabian horses, cats and chickens (fresh eggs usually available). Apart from the house and barn there are horse pastures, woodland trails, fruit trees, organic vegetable gardens, a pond and half acre marsh bordered with blackberries. Wildlife includes mule deer, bobcat, coyote, gray fox, striped skunk, raccoon, quail, turkeys, red shouldered hawks, great horned owls, pileated woodpeckers and many other birds (see ranch bird list of 100 species). One mile south is the infamous unsigned turn off to Bolinas, the last haven for aging hippies. The town has an organic produce store, market, lumber yard, surf shop, bicycle shop, video rental store, medical clinic, a few clothing stores, a gas station and a Post Office. The towns of Bolinas, Stinson Beach, Olema, Point Reyes Station and Inverness all have acclaimed gourmet and family style restaurants. Bolinas and Stinson Beach are popular with surfers and surf kayakers. Waves breaking along miles of sand at Stinson Beach can be heard from the property. During the 1850's a thriving settlement named Woodville grew up here around a saw mill. Local hunters owned so many dogs that the area was nicknamed Dogtown. Today there is no longer a saw mill, saloon, wagon shop or blacksmith, but Woodville Ranch retains the character of the past and offers you a delightful vacation experience.
